I decided to challenge myself to monetize my blog in just 30 days using a beginner blog monetization strategy, with zero prior experience and low expectations. But to my surprise... it actually worked. In this post, I’ll walk you through what I did, the tools I used, and exactly what I earned with no fancy writing skills or huge audience.
📌 Why I Started Monetizing My Blog
I’m currently on a mission to hit 100,000 subscribers and $100,000 in side hustle income by the end of the year. You can follow that journey over on Side Hustle Seattle.
To get there, I knew I needed more than YouTube. I wanted something evergreen that could bring in passive income. That’s where blogging came in.

🛠 Step 1: Turning My Videos into Blog Content
I’m not a writer, but I am a content creator. So instead of writing everything from scratch, I repurposed my YouTube scripts into blog posts using AI tools (like ChatGPT) and some light editing to keep my voice.
What I did:
Wrote blog posts for my newest videos
Repurposed my top-performing videos from the past 30 days
Kept each post short, skimmable, and to the point
💡 Tip: You don’t have to start from zero. If you’re already creating content somewhere (YouTube, TikTok, even Instagram) you can repurpose it.

🖥 Step 2: Redesigning My Website for the Blog
My blog used to be buried in my site, and honestly? It was kind of an afterthought.
So I gave it a full redesign:
Created dedicated pages for different side hustle categories
Organized posts into clickable, digestible sections
Made sure every blog was easy to find and navigate
I love using Wix because it has a clean, mobile-friendly layout.

💸 Step 3: Setting Up Monetization
Here’s how I made money with the blog:
1. Affiliate Links
I joined affiliate programs for the tools and platforms I already use- like Canva, Fiverr, and side hustle marketplaces. Every time I mentioned one in a post, I linked it with my affiliate code.
You can also join affiliate networks like:
Awin (formerly ShareASale)
2. Google AdSense
It’s free to apply, and once you’re approved, you can place ads on your blog. I used sidebar ads, in-article ads, and header placements. It won’t make you rich overnight, but it adds up fast with traffic.

3. YouTube Cross-Promotion
Every blog post linked back to my YouTube channel. That way, I could potentially earn twice: once from blog traffic, and again from video views.

🚦 Step 4: Driving Traffic to the Blog
Here’s how I got people to actually read the posts:
Linked the blog in all my YouTube video descriptions
Mentioned my website in videos
Shared posts to my email newsletter
Even with a small list, email helped remind people to check back in.

📊 My Results After 30 Days
In just one month (May), here’s what happened:
18,000 page views
$224.77 in total earnings
Not bad for my first real attempt, and it’s all content that can keep earning passively!

👀 What’s Next?
Now that I know it’s possible, I’m planning to:
Post a few time a week
Grow my email list
Pitch my blog for future sponsored content
Blogging isn’t a get-rich-quick method, but it is a great way to build passive income while growing your brand.
